iDLab is an NSF-funded national initiative designed to simplify access to advanced research computing, data resources, and scientific applications through a user-friendly, browser-based environment. By bringing together computing infrastructure, research data, and collaborative tools within a single platform, iDLab enables researchers, educators, and students to focus on discovery and innovation rather than the technical complexity of accessing high-performance computing resources. The platform supports interactive and iterative research workflows, making advanced cyberinfrastructure more accessible to a broader research community.
Built on UCLA’s OneSciencePlace platform, iDLab streamlines access to national-scale research infrastructure, including ACCESS and NAIRR systems, science gateways, cloud providers, and large-scale data services into a unified, interactive environment for research and education. The iDLab project is led by UCLA in partnership with the San Diego Supercomputer Center at UC San Diego’s Halıcıoğlu School of Data Science and Computing, the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois
Urbana-Champaign, the Rosen Center for Advanced Computing at Purdue University, the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center, operated jointly by the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University, and the Texas Advanced Computing Center at the University of Texas at Austin. Together, these institutions are building a unified research ecosystem that enables researchers to collaborate, share data, and accelerate scientific discovery across disciplines nationwide.
