NotebookLM for Research

12:00 pm - 12:00 pm
Recorded Workshop Series

This OARC YouTube playlist is designed to transform NotebookLM from a simple note-taking tool into your primary AI research collaborator. Whether you’re drowning in PDFs or trying to find the narrative thread in your data, these short tutorials will provide tactical, hands-on workflows to streamline your scholarly output.

In this series, we move beyond basic prompts to explore how NotebookLM’s "Source-Grounded" intelligence can assist in high-level academic tasks while maintaining output accuracy and contextual relevance.

New tutorials in this series will cover:
- Cross-Lingual Research and Video Analysis: Learn how to upload documents in multiple languages (e.g., Spanish, Catalan, Hebrew, Vietnamese) and query them in English—or vice versa. We also cover how to import YouTube URLs or video transcripts to extract key insights, quotes, and timestamps directly into your research notes.
- Data Transformation and Cleaning: Turn semi-structured indices or unstructured "messy" qualitative notes or interview transcripts into clean, categorized formats (CSV, Markdown, or Structured Lists) ready for deeper analysis.
- Citation Reformatting: Upload your source list and learn how to use NotebookLM to instantly pivot between APA, MLA, Chicago, or specific journal styles while ensuring every claim in your draft remains grounded in your uploaded sources.
- Enhancing Accessibility with AI Alt-Text: Ensure your research is inclusive. Learn how to use NotebookLM’s multimodal capabilities to analyze your charts, graphs, and research images to generate descriptive, high-quality Alt-Text and long-form descriptions for screen readers.
