Prior to joining the OARC Mobile Team, Wren operated a consulting company that developed mobile applications for institutions, startups, and corporations such as Nissan North America and Marriott International. As the OARC Senior Mobile Engineer, he leverages this real-world expertise into coding mobile apps for both iOS and Android that accomplish and exceed stakeholder objectives, translating rigorous requirements into accessible, robust and UX-oriented features. While focused on each line of code, Wren maintains perspective of the full architecture of the project, avoiding hidden pitfalls and moving towards an optimal path.

While Wren is well-versed in established languages and tools such as iOS Swift, Android Kotlin, and Google Flutter / Dart, he has frequently explored cutting-edge technologies such as XR and the unique capabilities of mobile device hardware. He collaborated with the UCLA Department of Psychology for a native iOS app using Apple's ARKit XR for interactive 3D data visualization and a real-time simulated lab-data-capture scenario for human behavior research.

He also integrated with wearable Bluetooth sensors gathering health data and telemetry for projects such as myHeartCarePRISMS and CoachToFit. Notably on the software algorithm side, he has solved challenging problems in mobile data analysis and offline caching. For example, he innovated data capture techniques for the eQIS Spiral Notebook pedagogical research platform that coupled data collection events with hierarchical metadata, threading the needle between data integrity and flexibility for researchers.

Along the way, Wren has actively researched other languages and tools when the situation has called for an adaptable approach, including Python for scripting, data analysis and automation; C for assembled circuits and sensor devices; and Javascript and Node for ad-hoc web integrations.

Outside of development he has education and expertise in UX architecture, graphic design and technical communication. Wren has engaged in mentorship with the technology community, educated via workshops and presentations on mobile, and performed data architecture analysis on multitiered application systems.
