
Jose Martinez
With over twenty years of experience in human resources, Jose is a seasoned HR leader known for strategic vision and operational excellence. Currently serving as the Associate Director of Human Resources at UCLA's Office of Advanced Research Computing, Jose oversees comprehensive HR functions, including compensation administration, employee and labor relations, talent acquisition, benefits & leave administration, and training & staff development. Additionally, Jose oversees People Service operations serving the organization’s staff, clients, and stakeholders.
Previously, Jose managed HR staff personnel operations for UCLA's College of Letters and Science, providing high-level consultation on employee and labor relations, compensation actions, and staff employment across 74 academic departments. Working closely with senior leaders across the organization from Deans, Assistant Deans, Chief Administrative Officers and HR managers to implement campus wide HR initiatives and programs. Jose also led the successful implementation of the Career Tracks system for over 1,000 staff positions for the College.
At UCLA Campus Human Resources, Jose excelled as a Compensation Consultant, conducting market studies, job evaluation and classification, equity analysis, and salary surveys for campus wide organizations serving as a strategic HR business partner. Jose has a proven track record of developing and implementing training programs, enhancing workforce skills, and leading initiatives to improve HR processes using innovative technology.
Jose holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute, a Compensation Certification Professional (CCP) certification from World At Work , and a Certificate in Human Resources Management from UCLA University Extension, earned with distinction and designated a UCLA alumni and true bruin because of this accomplishment.
