GIS and Visualization

GIS and Visualization Research Technology Group

The GIS and Visualization RTG supports a broad range of analytical tools and technologies that include GIS, spatial data science, 3D modeling, virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality. The team consults directly with faculty on research that contains large-scale datasets and produces new forms of born-digital scholarship. Operating out of the Technology Sandbox, an environment and ethos that promotes collaboration and experimentation, the GIS and Visualization RTG advances research by hosting workshops, organizing events/conferences, and creating tutorials on various related tools and methodologies.

Examples of recent GIS and Visualization group work include:

XR in the Arts and Humanities Webinar

XR in the Arts and Humanities: A virtual event showcasing the UCLA XR Initiative (XRI) where speakers gave lightning talks on eight different research and pedagogical XR examples.
