Data Use and Privacy

The Office of the UCLA Chief Privacy Officer serves as a resource and contact point for campus privacy matters. The Office works with many other functional campus offices that have compliance responsibility for privacy, engages in the campus governance process through the Board on Privacy and Data Protection, and offers a wide range of privacy-related activities and events for the campus community.

The Office of the Chief Privacy Officer also provides ad hoc consultation on privacy-related matters to the campus community, including cloud storage data use and procurement agreements, and the Chief Privacy Officer serves as the designated Coordinator for the UC Electronic Communications Policy and UCLA Policy 410, Nonconsensual Access to Electronic Communications Records. The Chief Privacy Officer leads development of recommendation about appropriate notification in a potential or actual data breach, as part of the campus incident response team.
